What kinds of polypropylene fiber are there for concrete reinforcement
Concrete reinforcement polypropylene fiber is one kind of synthetic fibers produced by 100% virgin polypropylene granules . it has been widely used in modern bridges, high speed railway, tunnel, culvert, airport construction, pavement, dam and other projects due to its crack resistance ,impermeability, impact resistance, anti riot ability and workability of concrete. How many kinds of polypropylene fibers (PP fibers) are there ? According to different shapes, there are four kinds of polypropylene fibers as below:
1. PP monofilament fibers
It is made by melting isotactic polypropylene and directly drawing through several spinneret holes. The cross section of the fiber is round or shaped. Several monofilaments are stretched, shaped and cut to a certain length to form a fiber bundle. The fiber bundle can be separated into monofilament during mixing with concrete.
2. Polypropylene fibrillated fibers
The film is drawn by the isotactic polypropylene melt through the extruder, and then stretched at high temperature to improve the directionality of the polypropylene fiber and reduce the thickness of the film. Then the film is punctured by the needle roller to form a net and cut short into a certain length of fiber bundle
3. PP macro fiber
The cross section of most polypropylene fibers is rectangular, and a few are irregular. In order to strengthen the bond between fiber and concrete, the surface of fiber is treated by special indentation and roughening, or the fiber has wavy shape.
4. PP twisted fiber
As a substitute of steel fiber, polypropylene twisted fiber has been widely accepted, and the bundle twisted fiber has gradually withdrawn from the market.
