Brittle temperature of polypropylene fibers
Polypropylene fiber ,shorted as PP fiber,is one type of synthetic fiber ,The brittle temperature of polypropylene fibers is -35 ℃. This characteristic indicates that polypropylene becomes fragile and prone to embrittlement in environments below -35 ℃. The cold resistance of polypropylene is not as good as that of polyethylene, which needs special consideration in its practical application. In addition, there are different reported values for the glass transition temperature of polypropylene, such as -18 ℃, 0 ℃, 5 ℃, etc. This is mainly due to the use of different samples for testing, where the proportion of crystalline and amorphous phases is different, resulting in different chain lengths of amorphous parts in the molecular chain. The melting temperature of polypropylene is about 40-50% higher than that of polyethylene, about 164-170 ℃, while the melting point of 100% isotactic polypropylene is 176 ℃. These data provide important reference for the application of polypropylene fibers.
