Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC concrete)is a type of high ductility fiber-reinforced cement-based composite material. Based on the design principles of micromechanics, fiber-reinforced composite materials with cement, quartz sand, and other matrices have high strength, toughness, crack resistance, and damage resistance compared to ordinary concrete. The key core material of high ductility concrete is fibers, because the bonding of fibers enables the concrete to produce high ductility performance. The national standard GB/T 21120 Synthetic Fibers for Cement Concrete Mortars provides detailed provisions for fibers used in concrete. Nowadays, the fibers that can be used for ECC concrete mainly include polypropylene macro fibers (like FDM950), Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber(UHMWPE fibers),polyvinyl alcohol fibers, polypropylene microfibers(FD9130), etc.
